Male’ Taxi Line mobile app expands to Android

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) announced that its “Male’ Taxi Line” mobile application, previously exclusive to iOS users, is now downloadable on Android devices via the Google Play Store.
The launch widens access to the app for Android smartphone owners in the Greater Male’ region, promising a smoother, more convenient taxi‑booking experience.
The app, which initially debuted on the Apple App Store, is designed to simplify travel for residents and visitors alike. Users can book a taxi with a few taps, schedule rides at least three hours in advance, and choose from multiple payment methods—including a built‑in wallet, credit or debit card payments through a secure bank gateway, and the “Scan and Pay” QR feature. The application also stores a detailed log of completed and upcoming trips, giving passengers full visibility of their travel history.
In addition to booking and payment conveniences, the app incorporates safety‑focused features. An emergency button allows users to alert authorities instantly in case of crises, while a driver‑call‑and‑text function enables direct communication without revealing personal phone numbers. Passengers who accidentally leave belongings in a taxi can report lost items through the app, facilitating quick retrieval.
MTCC highlighted that the service operates a fleet of environmentally friendly electric taxis, underscoring the company’s commitment to a safe, reliable, and sustainable transportation network in the Maldives.
The app is now available for both Apple and Android devices, with future updates planned to introduce additional features and improve user experience. MTCC continues to work closely with local authorities and technology partners to bolster the nation’s transport infrastructure and provide residents with convenient, eco‑conscious travel options.
