Parents have been urged to remain vigilant against child abuse by Minister of Homeland Security, Labour and Technology Ali Ihusaan, amid a rise in reported cases.
Speaking to journalists, the Minister shared updates on cases currently under police investigation, noting an increase in incidents involving children.
He said children are increasingly becoming victims of various forms of violence, including psychological, physical and sexual abuse, and stressed the need for greater parental awareness.
“I have mentioned that some criminal offences, such as child molestation and sexual abuse, are increasing. Families and parents must pay special attention to ensure children’s safety more than ever,” he said.
According to figures released by the Family Protection Authority, 92 cases of child abuse were reported in March this year alone. These included 19 cases of domestic violence, 13 cases of sexual abuse and five cases of grooming.
Authorities have emphasised the importance of early intervention and community awareness in addressing the issue.
