The Ministry of Health has reported a sharp rise in diarrhea and vomiting cases, with 3,763 cases recorded nationwide between June 15 and July 5, 2025. The Malé region accounted for 2,370 of these cases.
Influenza cases have also increased, with Malé reporting 228 out of 239 total cases during the same period.
In response, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has urged the public to practice proper hand hygiene and seek medical attention if symptoms persist. HPA also recommends increased fluid intake, proper sanitization, and staying home for at least 24 hours after symptoms stop.
