The land required for the construction of a hospital in Ha. Ihavandhoo has been officially handed over to the Road Development Corporation (RDC). An agreement has been signed to formalize the handover of the construction site to RDC, with the project scheduled for completion within 18 months.
Speaking to ‘Thiladun’, Ihavandhoo Council President Ahmed Sobah revealed that the hospital construction project includes a 30-bed facility and an accommodation block. He highlighted that the allocated land, which was obtained through land reclamation, is strategically located in the center of the island, ensuring easy accessibility for all residents.
The hospital’s central location was specifically chosen to provide convenient access to healthcare services for the entire island community. This strategic positioning is expected to significantly improve healthcare accessibility for Ihavandhoo residents.
President Sobah emphasized that the establishment of a high-quality hospital with an efficient healthcare system is a long-awaited necessity for the island’s community. He noted that this development would address a critical infrastructure need that residents have been anticipating for years.
The Council President extended special gratitude to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and the Ministry of Health for prioritizing this project and their continued support in advancing the healthcare infrastructure of Ihavandhoo. He acknowledged the government’s commitment to improving healthcare services in the region.
This development marks a significant step forward in enhancing healthcare facilities in the northern region of the Maldives, with the new hospital expected to serve as a crucial medical center for Ihavandhoo and neighboring islands.
