Kendhoo constituency MP, Ali Hussein has welcomed the Prosecutor General for accepting the call of the Jumhooree Party leader Gasim Ibrahim to withdraw the charges against former President Mohamed Nasheed.
Speaking to Miadhu Daily, Ali Hussein said that the current Prosecutor General takes action after thinking deeply regarding the issues. He said that the Prosecutor General’s decision to withdraw the charges against former President Nasheed was made in this regard.
“He did say that he was thinking about a decision regarding the matter. So now we see the decision he took. Therefore I welcome his decision,” he said.
Thulusdhoo MP Mohamed Waheed of the ruling PPM earlier stated that Gasim Ibrahim’s call to withdraw the charges is a crime.
“If Gasim calling the PG to withdraw the charges against Nasheed is a crime then what is the ruling regarding the PG’s decision?,” many have been raising questions regarding the matter.
