Maldives Police Service (MPS) officers in Gaafu Dhaalu atoll Gadhdhoo have provided assistance to protect people’s property from water، after the island was hit by sea swells caused by the raging weather in Maldives.
Police informed that the officers worked with the islanders to put sand bags to block water، as well as، inquired on the status of the people living in the affected area. Police also collected information on the extent of the damage in the island.
The sea swells began yesterday afternoon at 15:15 and reached residential areas in the southern part of the island.
Reports say the area affected experience soil erosion، and the residents face severe problems regarding the safety of their shelters.
