Home Minister Ahmed Azleen have said that gang violence has been controlled in Maldives.
Speaking to the press after a ceremony held at Home Ministry to celebrate three-year anniversary of the government, Azleen said that this government has done a lot to ensure that the youth are well respected in the society. He said that the government has stopped drug suppliers and provided job opportunities for the youth. In addition, he said that those youths with minor offences are provided with a chance to turn around their life and live in the society.
He said that as a result of these policies, Maldives has become much peaceful compared to before. “Previously the streets were unsafe. But today we do not see gang violence. So the primary work in controlling gang violence is successful” said Azleen.
He said that the President’s aim is to involve the youth in developing this country and provide them with jobs. He said that Home Ministry will complete all the work in the mandate of the ministry before 2018.
