Former President Mohamed Nasheed states he can achieve peace and happiness if he was to fall on President Yameen’s feet and beg for forgiveness.
He made said this over a statement that was broadcasted on Raajje TV tonight، which was narrated by another individual on behalf of Nasheed.
“I can achieve prosperity، happiness and safety if I choose to fall on President Yameen’s feet asking for it” former President Nasheed said، adding that he had not chosen to be locked because it is the only option that he is left with.
However he stated that he did not choose the path for the sake of Maldivian Citizens، and the entire nation will stand to lose their basic rights and would be mercy of a tyrant regime. Adding that the public of Maldives will not be able to stand tall and live in peace and harmony.
Former President Mohamed Nasheed had furthermore added that Maldivian judicial system is infected with corruption، while he had alleged that government officials at various posts and levels accept bribe in an extensive manner، claiming that this will brew injustice towards citizens while Maldives will cease from prospering and developing.
While it is highly expected that President Nasheed will receive the final verdict of his trial over terrorism charges for the kidnapping of Chief Justice of Criminal Court Abdullah Mohamed، he stands to receive a jail sentence of 10 to 15 years if he is proven guilty of the alleged crimes.
