Ex-President Nasheed’s Trial: Defence witnesses not to be summoned

The presiding bench has decided to not to summon the defence witnesses of Ex-President Nasheed to the court proceedings.
The presiding bench made the decision by stating that the defense made by Nasheed will not nullify the state evidences that were put forth.
In the hearing held، state witnesses were presented and Nasheed was questioned regarding the evidences.
Nasheed has stated that he want to proceed the trial with the assistance of a lawyer. The State lawyers stated that they have no objections for allowing Nasheed to appoint legal counsel.
In the hearing held، Nasheed accused the presiding bench being unfair. “The ongoing trial is unfair. This is not a fair trial” stated Nasheed in the hearing held on Monday night.
Nasheed is pressed with terrorism charges by the State for unlawfully detaining and isolating the Criminal Court Chief Judge Abdulla ‘Gaazee’ Mohamed in 2012.
