A special event on the awareness and information delivery on marine resources، dubbed “Moodhu Kan’du” – an attempt to instill a friendly environment for the public to get details of nature – has kicked off at Alif Alif Atoll Ukulhas.
The festival comes under the “Regenerate” program carried by International Union For Conservation of Maldives (IUCM) Marine Project.
According to the organizers، the aim of the festival is to create a friendly environment for the visitors and participants of the event while delivering important awareness details about nature and ecology. The festival’s target audiences are students from Alif Alif Atoll and their parents.
Last year the festival was held at Alif Alif Atoll Mathiveri، while this year’s festival is held at Ukulhas of the same atoll. According to the event organizers، the reason behind hosting the event at Alif Alif Atoll is due to the it being the “Demonstration” atoll.
IUCM reports that the festival was participated by every school of the atoll.
In today’s festival، instruction classes for scuba diving، snorkeling and swimming will be arranged for students according to IUCM، while several group and sports activities are included in the event as well.
The festival will be held in various other atolls in future، says IUCM.
