President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to the “Maldives First” policy during the official Independence Day ceremony today, emphasizing that prioritizing Maldivians in national affairs remains the government’s core focus.
Speaking at the event, the President underscored that while the Maldives will seek international assistance when necessary, Maldivians themselves must lead and execute all national endeavours. “Carrying out matters within the Maldives through Maldivians. That is my policy. I said it on the first day. I’m saying it today. And I will say it tomorrow as well,” he stated.
He stressed the importance of unity and collective responsibility in preserving the nation’s independence. “A nation cannot exist if different people go in different directions with different mindsets,” he remarked, calling on all citizens to commit to working together for the country’s future.
The President also pledged that his government, including ministers, officials, and parliament members, will continue to work diligently on national development and fulfil the promises made. He expressed optimism that the progress in the coming period would surpass achievements of the past year and a half, aided by cooperation with foreign partners.
