President urges police to prioritise public needs and trust

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stressed the importance of maintaining the police service as an exemplary institution that prioritises the needs and sentiments of the public.
He made the remarks during a meeting with the Executive Board of the Maldives Police Service (MPS), held at the Shaheed Hussain Adam Building.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Homeland Security, Labour and Technology Ali Ihusaan, Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed, and members of the executive board.
Discussions focused on improving the quality of police services, strengthening institutional management and achieving strategic objectives of the police service.
Speaking at the meeting, the President emphasised the key role of the Executive Board in strengthening administrative governance within the police while police presence has been established on all islands across the Maldives.
The Commissioner and board members assured the President of their commitment to achieving strategic goals, strengthening public trust and maintaining peace and security in the country.
The administrative structure of the Maldives Police Service has been reorganised to improve efficiency, with functions grouped into commands covering police services, investigations, intelligence, forensics, operational support, technology, training and corporate support.
