Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Wednesday confirmed on commencing the quay wall construction at Addu City Hithadhoo’s old harbor site.
As per the contractor, they have commenced on the installation of the precast concrete blocks required for the quay wall construction.
Moreover, the project scope includes dredging and excavation operations of 234,297 cubic meters in volume along with the construction of a breakwater running 800 meters long.
In addition to this, MTCC will construct a 1,420 square meter paved area adjoining the harbor structure along with the construction of the quay wall, which is ongoing.
Furthermore, the quay wall structure will reportedly measure 284 meters upon completion.
Other components under the project scope include installation of both harbor lights and navigational aids as well.
Meanwhile, as per MTCC the valuation of the project is a total of MVR52.4 million.
