President-Elect Solih meets Adhaalath Party leader Sheikh Imran

President-Elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih met with Adhaalath Party's leader and Islamic scholar Sheikh Imran Abdulla on Monday.
Solih met with Imran at his residence. The Adhaalath leader had been serving a 12-year jail sentence under terrorism charges in Maafushi Prison until he was shifted to house arrest on June 26.
Adhaalath Party, along with Jumhooree Party (JP), Maumoom Reform Movement (MRM) and Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) aligned together and won the Presidential Election held on Sunday.
The opposition did not disclose what was discussed in the meeting between Solih and Imran.
Imran is the first party leader from the opposition coalition to meet with Solih since the opposition's election victory. While MRM leader and former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom is in jail, MDP's leader and former President Mohamed Nasheed and JP's fouder Qasim Ibrahim are living abroad in self-exile.
Although Imran is still serving his sentence, the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention has declared that he was convicted unlawfully and called on the Maldivian government for his immediate release and compensation.
