“The current lengthy system has changed, everything will be resolved in one meeting” – President

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said that the lengthy system previously followed by government institutions has now changed, assuring that issues can be resolved in a single meeting.
Speaking to residents of AA. Himandhoo during his island visit, President Muizzu dismissed opposition claims that he avoids meeting with councils in Malé. He explained that these visits are designed to gather councils, Women’s Development Committees (WDC), and other institution heads in one forum where concerns can be directly discussed with ministers and managing directors for immediate action.
Under the old system, he said, councils, school principals, and health officials all had to make separate trips to Malé, resulting in multiple meetings and delays. “Now, everything can be addressed in one meeting or trip,” the President said, adding that ministers are instructed on necessary actions during these sessions.
In Himandhoo, the President highlighted several ongoing and upcoming projects:
- The long-delayed school building project will be expedited and completed within 75 days to three months.
- A new building at the health center has been completed and is operational, with plans to expand and upgrade laboratory services in next year’s budget.
- The mosque project under the Islamic Ministry is targeted for completion by December.
- Rock boulder placement for coastal erosion protection and harbor entrance works are being arranged simultaneously.
- Sports facilities will be enhanced with lighting for the football ground, an outdoor gym, a fitness and recreation center, and the construction of a new handball court.
President Muizzu emphasized that these initiatives align with commitments made during the presidential election and in his Presidential Statement, noting they aim to improve the quality of life for island residents.
