Maldives Correctional Services has shunned the claims of some media outlets reporting former President was set to be transported to Malé for medical attention.
While speaking to Vaguthu Online، a Correctional Services officer had reported the rumors spread through media outlets about President Mohamed Nasheed holds no validity، and a standard procedure must be followed for prisoners to be transported to Malé for medical attention، as it would be done only after a special request from the prisoner.
According to the officer، a procedure for a family member of a prisoner fixing doctor’s appointment and requesting for the prisoner’s transport to Malé is still not followed.
However، Nasheed has been given permission for medical examination from Maafushi Hospital following his request، and he had in fact went for consultation، according to the officer.
In addition to this، Correctional Services officer had confirmed that former President Mohamed Nasheed will be transported to Malé in the current week.
