Police have brought to a halt a festival called 'Pongal 2025' which was being planned in the Maldives by some Indian nationals.
Pongal is a harvest festival held annually in mid-January by the Tamil community in India, which coincides with the Tamil New Year.
Police said that they have now informed the organizers that the event planned for February 7 cannot be held.
Police did not reveal who the organizers of the event were.
Police said that the organizers have now confirmed that the event has been cancelled.
