Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has postponed its mass campaign event to Tuesday.
At a press conference, PPM’s deputy leader Abdul Raheem said they made the decision on the request of many atoll residents, who are coming to the capital city to join the event.
The ruling party’s deputy also called on all the supporters of President Abdulla Yameen to come to the event.
The government has declared Tuesday a public holiday to celebrate the return of the Maldives football team after winning the SAFF Suzuki Cup, South Asia’s biennial international football championship.
At the press conference, PPM’s parliamentary group leader Ahmed Nihan said that there would be more excitement at their campaign event on Tuesday since the team would be returning.
President Yameen has said that the ruling party’s manifesto would be released at the event.
