Discussions have been held to seek Chinese aid in training Maldivian prosecutors. The discussions were held between Maldivian Prosecutor General Aishath Bisham and Chinese Prosecutor Chen Lian Fu.
The meeting took place in the China-South Asia legal forum currently ongoing in China.
The Prosecutor General's office said that the discussions was about sending employees of the PG office to be further trained and about exchanging information and expertise between both countries.
A memorandum of understanding is also set to be signed between the two countries.
Prosecutor General Bisham also gave a speech at this form, based on the legal framework of South Asian countries. She spoke on how the current Maldivian constitution separates the three powers of the state and the similarities between Maldivian and Chinese legal systems.
Three Maldivian prosecutors are also taking part in this forum.
