Defense Minister Adam Shareef Umar have said that there are no recruitment agencies in Maldives that recruits people to fight in wars abroad.
During a press conference held today at the Coast Guard Building، Minister said that based on the investigation of police and MNDF they have found that there are no such agencies working in Maldives. “There are no such agencies in Maldivies، but there are specific individuals that we suspect” said the Minister.
Minister said that they use different tactics to recruit people. “They usually use social media، they spread their messages via social media” said the Minister. He further said that the people who go abroad to fight are not religious scholars but people who do not have enough information about the teachings of the religion.
“Those people are usually involved in crime as well، and their religious knowledge is limited” said the Minister.
