Speaker Nasheed Expressed Concern over the Absence of MPs From the Parliament Sittings

Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has expressed his dismay at the members’ decreasing attendance rates.
Despite receiving their monthly salary, he has said that it is unacceptable for the members to skip the Parliamentary sessions.
Even though several members arrived later, 24 members out of 76 members were present at the beginning of the sitting today.
It should be noted that 3 members were absent from Male today due to official business, while 6 members were on sick leave.
Speaker Nasheed has also expressed his disappointment with South Machangoalhi constituency member Ahmed Haitham’s ongoing sick leaves. Haitham has claimed that he is on sick leave as a result of health problems and has informed the parliament of this.
