President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the R. Meedhoo Island Council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) on Wednesday to discuss the developmental needs of the island.
At the meeting, members of Meedhoo Island Council conveyed the developmental needs of the island community to the President. They emphasised the need for initiating the development of its harbour, addressing space constraints at the Island Health Centre, and the need for a Dhanaal (on-campus student accommodation facility). In addition, they requested R. Thavaathaa to be included within the jurisdiction of Meedhoo.
Speaking at the meeting, the President assured the council that the issues highlighted would be reviewed and addressed.
The President also relayed additional information about the developmental plans for Meedhoo Island through his accompanying delegation of Cabinet Ministers and senior Government officials.
