President pledges to develop housing units on Rasmaadhoo Island

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has pledged to prioritise the project to build housing units on Rasmaadhoo in the North Maalhosmadulu Atoll. The President made the pledge whilst speaking with the Rasmaadhoo residential community.
Emphasising the reason for placing housing projects at the top of the Administration’s priority list for the year, the President stated that housing shortages and congestion are the root cause of all social issues. He then announced his decision to develop housing units on Rasmaadhoo Island.
The President also emphasised that efforts are being made to resume other stalled projects. Highlighting the stalled water network project, the President revealed that the contractor assigned for the project had halted similar projects on other islands as well. President Dr Muizzu assured that these projects would resume and be completed. The President also assured that he would look into the progress of the school development and complete any pending works. He further pledged to enhance sports and wellness activities on the island and expand the Island’s Health Centre to include a laboratory.
The President also stated that the Administration is working to introduce police presence on the island. He further relayed details of efforts to relocate the Rasmaadhoo Antennae, stating that relevant Government authorities were in touch with Ooredoo Maldives to resolve the issue.
During the ceremony, the Bank of Maldives and Rasmaadhoo Island Council signed an agreement for the establishment of an ATM on the island.
