Laila gravely concerned regarding warnings of imminent danger on Nasheed's life

Former First Lady, Laila Ali has stated that the family of former President Mohamed Nasheed has received warnings of an imminent danger on Nasheed’s life through credible sources.
In view of these information, Laila Ali expressed her grave concern for the well-being of the former President.
She said that she sent a letter to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom seeking assurance from him for the well-being of the former President.
She said that if the need arises the letter will publicized. She also hinted that the issue maybe forwarded to the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) and other foreign institutions, depending on the response they receive.
Laila also noted that the allowance and security which are guaranteed to them by the Security and Allowances of Former Presidents Act are received properly, however she stressed the lack of MNDF security to the former President, since the day he was apprehended by police.
She further revealed that Nasheed was healthy currently. However she explained that he is still seeking treatment for the injuries sustained to his shoulders, during the incident which unfolded outside the court while presenting him to the first hearing of the trial.
