Parliamentary Group coalitions of PPM, MDA and Jumhooree Party has called to fully investigate and punish all perpetrators of the Presidential assassination attempt of September 28th and the issue of illegal arms usage in the nation.
The Parties issued the statement voicing concern after submerged arms were found in the lagoon of B. Himbalhidhoo, an island which is being develop as a resort.
The statement said that such incidents were a national security issue. The statement added that the Coalition will be fully backing and assisting the Government’s efforts to investigate the issues and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The statement also called on all investigative authorities to fully investigate the reported links between the assassination attempt and the weapons, an allegation the investigation teams made Saturday night.
The statement, penned on behalf of the constituents of the MPs, was issued in Muleeaage, by PPM PG members, JP Leader Qasim Ibrahim and MDA Deputy Leader Ali Mauroof. The coalition now amounts to 60 sitting MPs.
