Minister of Health, Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim has embarked on a trip to Sh. Atoll during which he will survey the health facilities and services in the atoll.
Nazim is scheduled to visit seven islands during the tour.
The first stop for the minister was Sh. Narudhoo, after which he travelled to Sh. Milandhoo and officially opened the new addition to the island’s health center.
Ministry of Health reports the Milandhoo Health Center will now provide gynecology and pediatric services.
Speaking at the inauguration of the new building, Nazim said the biggest issue facing the Maldivian health sector was the shortage of Maldivian doctors. He said the government was planning on establishing a medical college in Maldives in order to solve the issue.
The minister also joined the cake cutting to celebrate Milandhoo Health Center’s 16-year anniversary.
Nazim is also scheduled to travel to Sh. Komandoo and inaugurate the new addition to the island’s health center as well.
He has also travelled to Sh. Funadhoo and met with the staff at the Sh. Atoll Hospital.
