Chinese Ambassador to Maldives, H.E Mr.Wang Fukang have said that still a lot of work needs to be done to develop the Maldivian health sector and China will always assist Maldives in, developing the sector.
He said this at a ceremony held this afternoon at health ministry to donate the 80,000 dollars by the Chinese government to health ministry to upgrade the reception area of the ministry.
Ambassador said that Maldives and China has agreed to work together in many areas of development and are now working in these areas.
“If we look at the health sector, in 2013 a medical ship from China came to Maldives and provided services to the people of Islands. Last year an eye camp was held and over 100 people were given various services. We donated state of the art machineries to the government. We are also helping to build various health sector professionals. We are even teaching Chinese traditional medicine” said the Ambassador.
Speaking at the ceremony, health minister Nazim thanked the Chinese government for their continuous assistance to the Maldives in various sectors including the health sector.
“China always assists us in the health sector” said the minister.
He also noted the close relations between the most senior government officials of China and Maldives.
