Former Education Minister and MDP’s Education Committee member Sifa Mohamed claims، Education Ministry’s motives are to bring political influences to Educational institutions by expunging the ranks of Deputy Principals.
Speaking during the press conference held by MDP today to voice against Education Ministry’s sudden decision to quash Deputy Principal positions، Sifa claimed that government has plans of introducing 50 political positions and this decision is a means to infuse political influence in the education sector as well.
Sifa also highlighted that whether large or compact، schools are run by experienced and skilled workforces and previously schools without Principals were efficiently administered by Deputy Principals. She also added that demotion of Deputy Principal posts will serve to demotivate personnel working in the education field to pursue higher studies in the field and transferring them to islands along with their family is also an injustice.
“Some are asked to transfer to other islands with their entire family، but after years of settling down in their careers and lives، no one is willing to throw it all away just like that” Sifa added.
Sifa pointed out that such matters involves a various array of choices، however the choices given to these Deputy Principals will not help them to develop or excel in their fields in any manner.
