Housing Ministry has closed off the beach area of Rasfannu after a group of people dumped a container of black oil into the sea this evening.
Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizz said the incident was orchestrated by a group on a boat and had dumped the packets into the swimming area. He also said the sewage pipe near the area was deliberately severed a few weeks back.
He condemned the act, adding that the Government will carry out cleaning the area, in spite of the attacks. He added the safety and cleanliness standards will be kept to the standards set by relevant agencies.
Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim had also condemned the act, urging all to upkeep all open and public places.
