President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik and First Lady Madam Ilham Hussain arrived in Male’ last night, concluding their official visit to Sri Lanka.
During his visit, President Waheed met with President Mahinda Rajapaksa of Sri Lanka, and discussed issues of mutual interest.
President Waheed also announced, during his visit, the extension of the availability of Aasandha, the government’s universal health insurance scheme, to all Maldivians with resident visas, from any Aasandhan empanelled hospital abroad. The announcement was made Friday evening, in his remarks at a music show of Maldivian band Olympians, held at Sosun Villa, Colombo.
As part of his trip, President Waheed visited the Maldivian patients at Lanka Hospitals. Later on he also met with the senior officials of the hospital.
The President also met with the Maldivian community living in Sri Lanka, during his visit.
