Discussions held to strengthen China-Maldives trade relations

Minister for Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed, during his official visit to China to attend the World Economic Forum, met with Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao today, holding discussions on improving trade relations between both countries.

Minister Saeed, in a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), described the meeting as constructive and said that the Ministers reflected on the meeting between President Xi Jinping and President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
Additionally, discussions also centered around options for deepening trade and investment cooperation between the two countries, Minister Saeed said.
Ambassador of China to the Maldives, Wang Lixin, quoted Minister Saeed's post on X and expressed her belief that the meeting would facilitate the implementation of the important consensus reached between President Xi Jinping and President Dr Muizzu.
"Looking forward to more achievements of China-Maldives comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership," the Ambassador wrote.
