Maldivian Reduces Fares to Boost Connectivity with South India

The national carrier, Maldivian, has announced special promotional fares for round-trip flights to the Indian cities of Cochin and Trivandrum.
According to the airline, its Airbus A320 will operate the flights under the promotion. Maldivian said the initiative aims to enhance passenger experience while reducing ticket pricing, and position the airline as the preferred choice for flights between Maldives and South India.
As part of these efforts, round-trip fares for Cochin will start from USD 176 and Trivandrum at USD 232, the airline said. Passengers travelling in Economy Class will enjoy a complimentary 20kg baggage allowance, free hot meal and beverages on the A320 flight Premium Economy passengers will receive a 30kg baggage allowance, express check-in service, and ticket date changes at no additional cost.
Maldivian said the initiative will not only benefit the airline, but will also deliver wider benefits to the country’s economy, particularly the tourism sector. The carrier said the special fares will increase the number of tourists visiting the Maldives from South India and provide additional convenience to those travelling for various purposes.
Maldivian currently operates a fleet of 25 aircraft. These include a wide-body Airbus A330, a narrow-body Airbus A320, five ATRs, eight Dash-8s and 11 Dash-6 Twin Otters.
