Lawyers of former President Mohamed Nasheed has said that the MNDF Chief of Staff Major General Ahmed Shiyam did not testify against Nasheed during last night’s hearing of the trial.
Following the hearing, the lawyers team told the media that the hearing held last night was mainly about taking testimonies to prove that Judge Abdulla was taken to Girifushi.
The lawyers stated that the Major General’s statement does not state in any way that Nasheed ordered the arrest of Judge Abdulla.
Many people gathered outside calling for the release of the former President during the time of hearing.
MDP has decided to hold a mass rally on Friday night calling for the release of Nasheed.
