United Kingdom's Minister of State at the Foreign Commonwealth Office, Hugo Swire has concluded his trip to Maldives and departed today.
He had paid courtesy calls to President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom and Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon. Discussions in the two meetings had centered on developing and enhancing existing bilateral relations between the two nations.
Minister Swire had also met senior figures at opposition MDP, former President Maumoon Abdul Qayyoom and Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives Akhilesh Sharma.
Swire was to meet Home Minister Umar Naseer but the meeting had been postponed due to various reasons. It has been reported to Miadhu that Swire’s meeting with Minister Umar had been postponed four times.
