Nasheed vents out despair over Commonwealth inaction

Former President Mohamed Nasheed had expressed his frustration over CMAG’s “inaction” over the crisis in the Maldives.
Speaking to the Hindhu, Nasheed, currently under UK asylum, said the Commonwealth had failed to take action over the situation in the Maldives. Noting the organization was weak, Nasheed said “they refuse to say if the Maldives issue is in the formal agenda, even while the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group says it is”.
He said the opposition is now stronger than they were in 2004. In the interview Nasheed said that he hoped that India would act to fill the gap left in the current situation.
