Jumhooree Party on Thursday submitted the application forms of 42 candidates, who will contest in the upcoming parliamentary elections with the party's ticket, to the Elections Commission.
JP's spokesperson Ali Solih told local media Mihaaru that the candidates were chosen by the party's council.
Solih went on to refute the recent rumours that JP was in talks with opposition Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and People's National Congress (PNC) to concede seats to them.
JP's Council granted the authority to give out electoral tickets to the party's leader, Qasim Ibrahim, in late January.
Qasim has assured that electoral tickets will be issued to members who win JP's primaries, and not simply on the merit of having been a member of the party for a long duration.
