Chinese Ambassador to Maldives H.E Wang Fukang have said that China fully supports the policies used by the government in protecting the sovereignty of Maldives.
Speaking to senior figures of Maldivian media earlier today, the ambassador said that Maldives is an important partner in the silk route project of China. He also noted that China is assisting to develop the economy of Maldives and also to develop infrastructure of Maldives.
He said that Maldives supports “ One China “ policy and Chinese policies regarding the South China Sea.
“ China wishes to work with other countries to attain economic development. We want both parties to benefit “said the ambassador. He noted that the economy can develop only when a country is peaceful and stable.
He also said that China supports Maldives to be the chair of Oasis and also assured that China will assist Maldives in environmental programs. “ We give high priority to environmental problems “ said the ambassador.
He also noted that this year marks the 45th anniversary of China and Maldives establishing diplomatic relations and said that this year also there will be various programs that will strengthen the relation between the two countries.
