The captain of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) is the former president Mohamed Nasheed، and MDP will partake in the political dialogue along with Nasheed at party’s side، says former Speaker of the People’s Majlis and the incumbent MP for north-Henveiru، Abdulla Shahid.
Abdulla Shahid made his statement on a tweet he posted on Monday.
MDP had proposed the names; ex-President Nasheed، Chairperson Ali Waheed and Party’s PG Leader Ibrahim Mohamed Solih as the party’s representatives to attend the government’s proposed Conference of the Political Parties.
However، as the proposed names include of a person serving a prison statement، the said person will not be able to take part in the talks، the Spokesperson at President’s Office، Ibrahim Muaz Ali said yesterday.
Responding to Spokesperson’s statement، Abdulla Shahid stated that the representatives of MDP will be assigned by MDP، and not by the Government. He further added that “MDP will partake in the discussions with Nasheed، as he is the captain of MDP”.
