Chinese Ambassador to Maldives Wang Fukang have said that China will always be ready to work with Maldives.
Speaking at a ceremony held last night by the Chinese Embassy in Hotel Jen to celebrate Chinese New Year, the Ambassador said that China will always be ready to assist Maldives in developing the country.
“China Maldives Friendship Bridge was given that name by the presidents of both countries. This bridge is an example of the relations between the two countries. This project will also benefit the people immensely and the work is going on at a fast speed” said the Ambassador.
He also said that the work of the second runway of the airport has begun and that project will benefit the economy of Maldives. He also highlighted the 17-kilometer runway developed in Laamu atoll.
The ambassador said that last year was the 7thconsecutive year where the most number of tourists to the Maldives were from China. He said that China trained 500 Maldivians last year. In addition, China conducted an eye camp in Hulhumale’ and more than 100 Maldivians received care from the camp. Also, equipment worth 7 million Rufiyaa was donated to Maldives.
The ambassador said that China works on global development as well and actively takes part in the development of many nations. He said that more than 100 countries have taken part in the silk route project of China. “Chinese economy is growing. Last year alone there was a growth of 6.7 percent” said the ambassador.
“President Xi Jinping’s aim is to increase China’s role in international development” said the ambassador.
He also said that, the relations between the two countries are becoming stronger after the visit of President Xi Jinping to Maldives.
