Over 300 pilgrims depart to Saudi Arabia for umrah in last half of Ramadan

Over 300 Maldivian pilgrims under the charge of the Maldives Hajj Corporation have departed to Saudi Arabia to perform the hajj pilgrimage in the last 15 days of Ramadan.
Hajj Corporation’s managing director Mohamed Shakeel told Sun that 364 pilgrims left on a flight to Saudi Arabia on early Saturday.
They will perform their first umrah pilgrimage today, he said.
Shakeel said Hajj Corporation said that the new pilgrims will join some 200 pilgrims who are already in Saudi Arabia for umrah for the entire Ramadan.
There will be over 600 pilgrims from Hajj Corporation in Saudi Arabia, he said.
The umrah pilgrims will travel from Male’ to Jeddah on a five-hour flight, and take another two-hour bus to their hotel in Mecca.
