Health Minister Abdullah Nazim Ibrahim have said that the government is doing a lot of work to develop the health sector and that the government will gain international, local trust and recognition to the sector.
Speaking at a ceremony held to inaugurate a training to train people who can assess the quality of Maldivian health services, the Minister said that the government is spending a lot on health sector and one of the highest priority of the government is to improve the quality of services given in Maldives.
Nazim said that the government provides national health Insurance scheme, Aasandha to everyone to ensure that everyone receives the best possible healthcare in Maldives. The minister said that in addition to developing the facilities, the government is also investing in training more people for health sector. He said that now they are able to see the good results of these investments.
Health Minister noted that the quality of health services in Maldives should be improved. He said that even before Maldives achieved notably in the health sector but what matters is the quality of the services provided.
He said that Maldivians go abroad to seek medical care because they lack trust in the services provided in Maldives. The minister said that the government is trying to gain the trust of people.
