President-elect Ibrahim Mohammed Solih has requested the government to hold off on signing new projects.
The director general of transition Ahmed Latheef, sent a letter to Finance Minister Munawwar on behalf of the president-elect requesting to hold off on new projects, not to tender new projects, and not to take any new loans.
The letter further requests the Finance Minister not to engage in any transaction which might hold the state financially liable.
