Today marks a joyful day for former president Mohamed Nasheed، his family and all those who tirelessly put efforts in the reform of Maldives، says Nasheed’s lawyer Hassan Latheef.
He made the remark at the press conference held at Salt Cafe’ last night، following UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (UNWGAD) publicized its report on former president Nasheed’s case، ruling out that his ‘imprisonment is unlawful’.
“I take this opportunity to congratulate everyone on behalf of president Nasheed on the achievement،” Latheef said، adding that the achievement is the result of tireless and long-term efforts by several people.
Furthermore، Latheef noted that the Constituion prescribes the government to adhere to the rulings of UN Working Group، and expressed hopes that the government would respect and obey the rulings.
