The body of 79-year-old Zakariyya Mohamed, who went missing last Thursday while travelling alone by dinghy from Gadhdhoo to Gamu, has been found washed ashore on Gamu.
Zakariyya had departed from Gadhdhoo, stating he would return by noon the same day. When he failed to return by evening, search efforts were launched involving the MNDF Coast Guard, Police, and residents.
His small dinghy was located yesterday, submerged about 10 meters deep near the Gamu reef. Two members of the public participating in the search found Zakariyya’s body washed up on the shore.
Police are currently conducting operations in the area, and arrangements are underway to transport his body to the local health center.
