President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom said that is opponent Ibrahim Mohamed Solih (Ibu) is still using parts from former President Mohamed Nasheed's manifesto.
While speaking at a ceremony held to mark the completion of shore protection project in Kurendhoo, Lhaviyani Atoll, President Yameen stated that the opposition has not been able to bring forth a manifesto so far and that they are still using part of Nasheed's manifesto.
The President said that he pities the state of Ibu as he does not have a manifesto from his party. According to President Yameen, this is because neither Ibu nor Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) wants an election where former President Mohamed Nasheed cannot contest in.
He went on to say that the leadership of the opposition coalition does not have a conscientious thinking and so they will not be able to lead the people.
President Yameen accused the opposition of being the biggest obstacle faced by the county's fisheries and tourism industry. He noted that the difficulties faced by these industries are due to the "defaming talks" by the opposition.
