Kendhoo constituency MP Ali Hussein has said that that they were forced to come out against the government because the present government has surpassed the limits.
Ali Hussein made this remark speaking at last night’s meeting of the “Maldivians in defence of the constitution” organized by the Jumhooree Party.
He said that the constitutional breaches of the government is known to all people except blind ignoramuses.
Ali Hussein said that the annulment of the agreement made with the Jumhooree Party is itself an opposition to the party.
The Majlis member for Kendhoo constituency added that the main source of the constitution is the Islamic Sharia and it is a crime in Islamic Sharia to break oaths and agreements without any due right.
Ali Hussein said that the government has also taken judges as their “hostages”. “Democracy is being hijacked by taking the judges as hostages,” he said.
He said that judicial independence is very important for a democracy to thrive in a country. He said that without judicial independence democracy is nothing.
