Home Ministry says that all those eight people who were sentenced for death after shooting live bullets in 2003 to the inmates of Maafushi prison when the inmates rose because of Evan Naseem's torturous death, were sent back to jail after they have being freely moving in the city.
State Minister of Home Affairs Mohamed Naeem (Monaza) said that they were released by the previous government. In 2003 when Evan Naseem, an inmate died because of torturing and other inmates rose against the security. The soldiers shot live bullets to the crowd and three people died in the incident.
