As per statistics publicized by the National Bureau of Statistics on the occasion of International Youth Day, a whopping 92.7 percent of the Maldivian youth population is recorded to be employed.

The statistics highlighted that there are 257,217 youths between the ages of 18 and 35 – living in the Maldives that makes up 45 percent of its entire population.
Out of these, only 7.3 percent of youths are presently unemployed. 10 percent of the youths are in informal employment whereas 38 percent are employed in informal sectors. 86 percent of the youths are employees while two percent of them are employers.
The majority of the youth population have attained secondary and higher secondary education with 77 percent, while 12 percent have attained tertiary education. Only two percent of the youths have never attended schools – whereas nine percent of the youth have only studied up to primary or below.
