Former President Mohamed Nasheed who has been serving a 13 year prison sentence on terrorism charges has been changed to house arrest for the remainder of his sentence.
Many parliament members of the party have tweeted saying Nasheed may face a leniency on his sentence، while others are hinting he may face a possible pardon.
Former President Mohamed Nasheed was under house arrest، as advised by a doctor، for medical reasons.
The members who have hinted ‘the possible freeing of Nasheed’، said it is due to the political dialogue currently being held between MDP and the Government، to resolve the political conflicts.

Neither the party، nor the government have officially commented on what Nasheed may face – leniency، or a pardon.
Former President Mohamed Nasheed was sentenced for 13 years in prison on terrorism charges for kidnapping the sitting chief judge of criminal court، Judge Abdulla ‘Gaazee’ Mohamed، in 2012 during Nasheed’s administration.
