International flight movements observe 154% bump in Q4-2021

According to the most recent data from Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), the international flight movements observed staggering improvement in Q4-2021.
The central bank’s statistics attest that the international flight movements increased by a significant 154% when compared with the corresponding quarter in 2020 and by 16% when compared with pre-pandemic levels of Q4-2019.
Furthermore, the data further confirmed that the increment of movement is resultant of the increased flight operations by major carriers with scheduled operations to the Maldives.
Among the international carriers that amped up their operations to the Maldives during the review, the quarter includes Go Air, Indigo, Sri Lankan Airlines, British Airways, and Turkish Airlines.
In addition to this, the resumption of AirAsia Thailand, Air Astana, Azur Air Ukraine, British Airways, GullivAir, Iberia, Neos, Ukraine Airlines, and Uzbekistan Airways which include seasonal charter airlines acted towards increment in international carrier movements to the Maldives.
Furthermore, during the quarter several airlines debuted their operations in the island nation which includes LOT Polish Airlines, Nordwind Airlines, MIAT Mongolian Airlines, and the US-Bangla Airlines.
